Origin – Spirits of the Past is one of the most beautifully animated films in my collection. Production values are great and really help bring the story to life.
The science fiction setting never really detracts from the story, and the movie manages to find a fairly solid balance between the action scenes and quieter, story scenes, and behind all the fast paced segments lies a touching tale of love.
I also must say that the theme song for the movie is one of my favorite theme songs ever – a swelling, intense piece that manages to really capture the imagination and adds to the experience immeasurably.
Origin – Spirits of the Past is a solid, very well animated title that is certainly worth a look for fans of animated movies (and not just anime).
