As a piece of post-apocalyptic fiction “One Second After” portrays an intriguing and scarily realistic ( for the most part) scenario. Read by itself One Second After is absorbing in its bleakness and developing desperation. Unfortunately through its writing style it suffers in comparison to books like “Dies the Fire” and “Last Light” and, if it can still found, the online amateur novel “Lights Out” by Halfast which cover the same or similar themes. Ultimately an interesting, absorbing story that nearly works which I don't have any regrets taking up.
