Description

"There is something exceedingly solemn in writing words which shall not be read till we can write and read no more; in sealing a paper which shall not be opened till we are laid in our graves. And thus one would think that the bare thought of making our will, the mere consciousness of writing and sealing an instrument so full of death, if I may so speak, in every line, ought in itself be the most impressive of sermons." This sermon, preached by Dr. Thomas Arnold, the famous English headmaster of Rugby School, considers the importance of writing a will for God's glory, and the edification of man. A must read for anyone (especially a Christian) thinking of writing his will.

Author Biography:

Thomas Arnold, England's most famous headmaster, was also a great thinker, whose thoughts were shaped by his faith in Jesus Christ. Arnold was made famous through Thomas Hughes' novel 'Tom Brown's Schooldays', but his sermons and correspondence are well worth reading in their own right. This sermon is part of a greater collection published by Arnold's wife, soon after his unexpected death in 1842. The larger volume, 'Sermons on the Interpretation of Scripture' can be purchased as a Cameron Collectible. See www.cameron-collectibles.blogspot.com
