Rabindranath Tagore was a renowned Indian painter, philosopher, essayist, playwright, novelist, song composer, short-story writer, educationist, and a poet. Apart from this book, he has authored several other remarkable books like the Vocation, Stray Birds, The Spirit of Japan, Sadhana: The Realisation of Life, The Post Office, My Reminiscences, The Lover of God, The King of the Dark Chamber, I Won't Let you Go: Selected Poems, The Hungry Stones, The Home and the World, Glimpses of Bengal, The Cycle of Spring, and many more. His interests vary from learning about English, Sanskrit, Mathematics, Literature, History, Geography, Anatomy, and drawing. He was the man who developed Bengali literature to great heights and gave it a new wave. He was born in the year 1861 in Jorasanko mansion at Calcutta, India. He completed his secondary education from a public school in Brighton, England in the year 1878. He also studied law from the University College London for a short span of time only to discontinue it later. But he took up independent studies of subjects like Cleopatra, Coriolanus and Antony, Shakespeare, and Religio Medici while he was living in England. He was the first non European to have received the honorary Nobel Prize in the field of Literature in the year 1913.
