Author Biography:

SERAFIN MENDEZ MENDEZ is an Associate Professor of Communication at Central Connecticut State University. A native of Puerto Rico, he is the co-author of Puerto Rico Past and Present: An Encyclopedia (Greenwood 1998). GAIL CUETO is an Assistant Professor of Education at Central Connecticut State University. She is the co-author of Puerto Rico Past and Present: An Encyclopedia (Greenwood 1998). NEYSA RODRIGUEZ-DEYNES is the Chairperson of the Department of History, Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico in Ponce.
