Description

It is 1930, and the sleepy Hampshire village where Emma Pearson lives with her husband and two daughters is untouched by the Depression that has ravaged much of the country, causing poverty and hardship. Author Biography

Elizabeth Waite is the very popular author of some fifteen novels, many of which are set in London's East End. Born in Tooting, South London, she worked as a bus conductress during the war and in 1956 moved to Devon, where she and her husband bought their first guesthouse before retiring to Sussex.
