Author Biography:

My name is Marcus Meyers. I graduated in August 2012 from Bluffton University in Bluffton, Ohio, with a Bachelors of Arts in Social Work. After achieving my Bachelors, I went on to challenge myself by attaining my Master's degree in Social Work at The University of Toledo, in Toledo, Ohio. The field of Social Work has always been close to my heart because I have some physical special needs that has allowed the pleasure of interacting with licensed social workers frequently. As a matter of fact, I feel that Social Workers have contributed to my success today as a well-educated independent adult. Ever since I was old enough to understand the meaning and functions of Social Work, I wanted to pursue this profession. I felt this was my way to give back to what was given to me. Even though I have overcame a great number of obstacles in my younger years, it was not until my mid to late 20's that I really did realize that I am starting to overcome the physical obstacles directly related to my physical special needs. Buckle up and enjoy the journey to independence. It is common to assume that my family has been a great impact on my independence. However, that is not always true. Do not get me wrong, my family continues to support me and still has a tremendous impact, but for me the greatest amount of support was my friends. I am most inspired by people close to my age. Throughout this journey, you will get to meet all three of them. There will be some setbacks throughout the journey, but please tighten your seat belt and press on because that is what I do each and every day!
