I've played previous versions of Monster Hunter on the Wii, and the 3DS. The game is reputed to be hard to learn, and rather impenetrable to play. This version, Monster Hunter World, is very approachable, with plenty of tutorials to ease new players into the complexities of Monster Hunter (it is still a complex game), and some of the more tedious activities are streamlined. The main loop of the game is still to find and kill monsters, and scavenge their remains for parts which can be used to craft better weapons and armour and repeat loop. The monsters are still challenging, and you need to learn how to defeat them (having better weapons and armour makes it easier to inflict and sustain damage, but not easy to kill the monsters). All in all, if you are looking for a game that you can sink tens or even hundreds of hours into, playing alone, or with friends, and that will give you a challenge, then this is it.
