Description

This volume in Wiley's "Heterocyclic Chemistry Series" discusses the literature covering the syntheses and principle chemical properties of the monocyclic azepines. The subject is divided for discussion according to the state of oxidation of the heterocycle, a strategy which allows the azepines and their key to-derivatives to be distinguished from tetra-hydro and di-hydro azepines. Finally representing the highest oxidation state, the azepines and the azepinones are discussed. The use of systematic nomenclature, permits easy retrieval of the structures by the reader and facilitates understanding of the chemistry. The extensive use of referenced tables gives the reader direct access to the data source. The book contains data and references to 2150 monocyclic azepine structures with multiple references in the tables to single structures enables the reader to compare different synthetic methods used in their preparation.
