A Caribbean Mystery
Miss Marple is holidaying in Barbados, courtesy of her generous nephew. Ever-alert, she spends her first day at the Golden Palm Hotel taking stock of her fellow guests: hotel owners Tim and Molly Kendal; Edward and Evelyn Hillingdon who, with Greg and Lucky Dyson, spend their time on botanic expeditions which are not what quite they appear to be. Then there is eccentric millionaire Jason Rafiel, his secretary, Esther Walters, and his servant, Jackson. And finally there is Major Palgrave, the hotel bore, whose fund of interminable tales make him a joke amongst the other guests. He corners Miss Marple with a tale about a strange coincidence. Just as he is about to show her an astonishing photograph, the Major's attention wanders.
He never does finish the story ? the Major is found dead on the floor of his cottage. Everyone except Miss Marple accepts that he died of natural causes. But with so many weird and wonderful characters lurking in and around the hotel, it seems that even she will have difficulty pointing the local police in the right direction. And when more murders follow, she knows that it is vital for her to crack the case.

They Do It With Mirrors
Why is Ruth van Rydock worried about her sister? To reassure her old friend, Miss Marple agrees to go down to Stonygates, the rambling country mansion where Carrie-Louise lives with her third husband, Lewis Serrocold. There she finds herself in the midst of a bizarre ménage ? an extended family and a reformatory for young criminals ? where violence seems just below the surface.
Shots are fired in a darkened room, but the victim is discovered elsewhere. Miss Marple soon deduces the identity of the killer but not how it was done ? until she discovers Inspector Slack?s secret hobby.

The Mirror Crack?d From Side To Side
The famous actress Marina Gregg has moved into Gossington Hall (scene of The Body in the Library). At a reception for her at the village fete, local busybody Heather Badcock dies after drinking a cocktail. Inspector Craddock is put on the case and, with some guidance from his aunt, Miss Marple, concludes that Marina was the killer?s real target. There is certainly no shortage of suspects. Could Marina?s film director husband Jason and her producer Ardwyck Fenn be scheming for the insurance? Ella Zielinsky, Marina?s secretary, has a more passionate motive: she is madly in love with Jason. Or would the chance to step into Marina?s role make Lola Brewster, a rival and ambitious actress, contemplate murder? Then there is the mysterious Margo Bence, top fashion photographer: what secrets lie in her enigmatic past?
Older and frailer she might be, but Miss Marple still has all her intuitive powers and they are fully stretched when Ella becomes the second murder victim. It is only after she pieces together the full story of what happened on the day of the fete that she and Craddock are finally able to confront the killer.
