Description

The original and compelling story of a remarkable car with a unique heritage. Both the old Mini and the new MINI are symbols of the age that created them. The car that was originally designed for austerity and efficiency soon came to represent individuality and classlessness, features that continue to define the car today. But the modern MINI has travelled far from the model with the leaky floor and sliding windows, and now represents an enviable success story of endurance and reinvention. MINI - The Making of the World's Most Loved Car explores the industrial and social changes in the last half-century through the story one car. The book is split into two parts - 1959 and 2009 - telling the history of these two linked worlds 50 years apart. The story will be told by those who made it: designers, engineers, production-line workers, advertisers, sales people, customizers, celebrities, drivers. In short, this will be the human story behind a beautiful box of metal and wires.
