Description

Melancholy Mind is a book full of poetry on the subject of Mental Health. It gives an insight in to the reality of Mental Health (from one person's experience), it deals with medication, insomnia, love, causes and symptoms, coping and the 'recovery' aspect too. This book is raw, emotional and candid. Charlene McElhinney has poured her heart and soul in to this book and aims to reach out to Mental Health sufferers and also to those who want to try and understand the mind of a Depressive.

Author Biography:

Charlene McElhinney is from Glasgow, Scotland and has suffered from Mental Health issues for several years. She started blogging as an outlet for her Depression and Anxiety and decided to speak out about her experience. As a professional writing student in the creative industries at City of Glasgow College, she chose to explore Mental Health for her graded unit project, through the form of poetry. And this is when she chose to publish her first book. The original plan was to write 5 poetries for an anthology - this was not enough to include everything she wanted to share. Melancholy Mind is full of life experiences, thoughts and feelings and also poetry inspired by other people. Charlene had to relive all of the tough times in her life and take herself back to those dark days to write this book but it was something she desperately wanted to do. Charlene also enjoys singing and writing her own music and previously used to busk on the busy city streets and perform gigs at different venues around Glasgow. Since her confidence dropped she began spending a lot of time at home, not leaving the house, and she rediscovered her adoration and passion for writing again.
