A circular polarizing filter is a commonly used filter in product and landscape photography. It removes reflections from smooth surfaces, water or snow. It also increases the contrast in cloudy skies with which dramatic effects can be obtained. The filter consists of two layers that can be rotated relative to each other. This makes the effect stronger or less strong. This can be seen directly through the lens. The filter removes approximately 1.5 to 2 stops of light, this is automatically corrected by the camera.
