Description

This absorbing collection of over 200 old photographs illustrates some of the people, events and scenes from the days of the late nineteenth century, when Maldon enjoyed a prosperous period with industry attracted by the dual transport facilities provided by rail and water. This volume recalls the days when iron foundries, mills and timber yards provided the employment and economic growth of the area. By the 1890s tourism was flourishing too, and Maldon became a popular destination to visit for a breath of sea air. A new edition of a popular book several years out of print, this book will delight all who know and love this part of Essex.
