The madden franchise has hit rock bottom with their latest installment. EA has stripped down the superstar mode down to the bare bones making it tedious and its extreme lack of character customization options its even less playable. The online play costs 16 dollars nz just to use any of the online features (after the 7 day trial is done) including just updating rosters. The control scheme has been redone and is now a chore to use, the passing scheme has also been ruined with the option to steer the pass to the sides of the reciever seemingly gone. This game is a total stinker, avoid like the plague unless you really need a american football game.

There are a few gimmicks playcalling is ok if you are a casual gamer or you want to rush through a game, but it is unrealistic. I used “gameflow” for a game and the computer had me passing 45 times and rushed only 7 – that is not how the NFL is played by any team. What's worse is underneath it all it is the same game – I could've saved myself the money and hung on to Madden 10 because aside from a few new animations it is the same – basically a $110 roster update!. The sooner EA loses the exclusivity on the NFL liscensing the better – hopefully competition might encourage a better effort from EA – becuase the potential is certainly there…

Change the game modes these games are all the same getting a little better every year, yea the play calling is better and a bit more revolutionised but but its make or break time with backbreaker closing in on madden with the amount of potential it has Ea should start changing it up.
