In my, and most likely others, opinion, Macbeth is a psychologically terrifying tale. Thus, it needs to be told as such with no holds barred. And this is what this unabridged audio version does. This production has a great cast. They extract all of the necessary personality elements possessed by all characters. Consequently, all are made the fascinating creatures they should be. That said, this is a play and is meant to be seen and heard rather than merely heard. Naturally, the makers of this retelling are aware of the missing visual elements. They make up for this deficit with a score and various sound effects which enlarge and emphasise the delivery of the voice acting and events to their violent, chilling and unworldly maximum. And yes, by all means listen to it alone… and in the dark!
