Description

Forgiveness doesn't excuse someone's behavior. It prevents their behavior from destroying you capacity to love.Review by Deacon Andy Kresha: "In his book, Loving Your Despicable and Obnoxious Enemies, Charles Hill finds a chord in the heartstrings of those seeking to become their best selves. Through a series of reflections and questions that become our exercises in self-reflection, he weaves us into awareness of how we truly see our imperfect and often despised fellow human beings. With a decided emphasis on the ideals and model set by Jesus Christ, Hill shows us what forgiveness is truly like. He challenges us t become perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect if we long for the peace and ultimate joy of eternal life filled with other people that God has forgiven. Will we? And if so how? Hill uses his examples of working with some of societies outcasts as a way to reach our often unforgiving hearts and challenge us in a step-by-step process so we can succeed in our 'final exams'."

Author Biography:

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Charles H. Hill, MS in Ed, MSW, ED.D, LPC, LSOTP Loving Your Obnoxious And Disgusting Enemies is inspired by 49 years of working with the underdogs and dregs of society. It also reflects the experiences of the author as a youth growing up in a poverty-level home and personal experiences in judgmental and condemning churches. In retirement, the author is working with a small group of Registered Sex Offenders. He will not admit in a church group the nature of his work in order to avoid the chorus of 'How can you stand them?' The author began a 46-year teaching career teaching remedial reading on a Native American Reservation with very resistive and needy students. He then moved to teaching college education classes, training teachers in special education and developmental reading. He has published 42 articles designed to assist Sunday Schools in holding and teaching difficult attendees. He has also, in semi-retirement, taught remedial reading and writing to sometimes manipulative and dishonest community college students. For the past 18 years he has also been a Clinical Social Worker, working inside prisons and juvenile detention facilities as well as parole offices. The greatest motivation for this book, perhaps, is the author's knowledge of the grievous sins and shortcomings of his earlier years and the gratefulness to those who have forgiven and accepted him into their lives and hearts. Dr. Hill and his wife live in central Texas.
