Author Biography:

GERI MILLER, PHD, Diplomate in CounselingPsychology, ABPP, is a Professor in the Department of HumanDevelopment and Psychological Counseling at Appalachian StateUniversity. She is a Licensed Psychologist, a Licensed ProfessionalCounselor, a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist, and aSubstance Abuse Professional Practice Board Certified ClinicalSupervisor in North Carolina. She has also received a Certificateof Proficiency in the Treatment of Alcohol and other PsychoactiveSubstance Use Disorders from the American Psychological AssociationCollege of Professional Psychology. Dr. Miller has worked in themental health counseling profession since 1976 and in the addictioncounseling profession since 1979. She has conducted researchrelated to mental health counseling and addiction counseling. Shehas also presented extensively to mental health counselors andaddiction counselors.
