The original Last House is a bizarre creature, an incredibly unpleasant grindhouse flick that pulls its punches in all the wrong places and as a result destroys its own integrity. Instead of the hard-hitting moral dilemma that the film tries to pose we are left with little more than a morally-unbalanced wreck. Not totally awful, but due to the rather nasty nature of the content, probably only really worthwhile for Wes Craven or horror devotees.

Description

The notorious film debut of horror maestro Wes Craven ("A Nightmare on Elm Street", "Scream"), LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT sees four deranged escaped cons kidnap, rape, torture and finally brutally murder a pair of teenage girls. After the killers take refuge in the home of one of the victims, the girl's parent's discover their heinous crime and plot violent retribution.

Wes Craven's scream-fest pushed the horror genre deep into unchartered territory - and along with "Night of The Living Dead" and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" signalled the dawn of the golden age of Horror film through its realistic representation of horrific violence in the heartland of modern America.

Previously never legally allowed to to be screened in Australia, LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT is proudly presented for the first time in all of its unflinching, gut-churning glory, TOTALLY UNCUT and in WIDESCREEN.
