Description

Mitchell the house mouse is cozy in his shoebox home in Grammy's closet. What will he do when her granddaughter snatches the box away to make a miniature float for a Carnival contest? Maybe he will pitch in and even get to ride! Young readers will thrill to Mitchell's adventure involving the long-beloved childhood tradition of crafting a Mardi Gras float from a cardboard shoebox.

Author Biography:

A New Orleans native, Brenda Baker Robrt, now splits her time between that city and her home by Bayou Lacombe. She holds an undergraduate degree in English and a M.Ed. in Education. Robrt is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. When she isn't writing stories, she enjoys the quiet time spent behind her camera, waiting for a bird to land on just the right branch, as well as the not so quiet time spent with her young granddaughter. Illustrator Kay Meadows is an award-winning artist and illustrator. Her preferred medium is watercolor, but she has worked in pencil, charcoal, pastel, and acrylic. A graphic designer, she has traveled around the world as a Book of Hope Foundation missionary and has worked in the publishing industry, designing and illustrating content for books, including Louisiana Animals ABC and Chili Time, Y'all!: How Texas Found Its State Cuisine, also published by Pelican. She lives in Brandon, Mississippi, where she is inspired by nature and her dogs, cat, and four colorful, noisy chickens.
