This is not a dramatic story, like that of Anne Frank and the other hundreds of her ilk. It does not relate a heartbreaking, personal tragedy. It simply recalls the child and young adult years of a WWII survivor; a child fortunate enough never to have gone without her daily fi ll; a little girl who wore a warm coat; a youngster who always had most of what she needed. It is memories of an ordinary family who made it through the war; the recollections of a kid who learned when young to cope with change and challenges and survived it all, relatively intact. It is about a girl's growing up process during times of confl ict, affected but not crippled by it; about the worried but steadfast parents who did their best in trying times even if it wasn't what they would have liked to do. It is about the path trodden by a young woman in search of the maturity that puts her where she was meant to be for the rest of her life. It is the reminiscences of a Senior Citizen grateful to have had the life she has had, because she has been made even more aware of her good fortune by thinking and writing about it.
