Description

"Joyzelle" was translated by Alexander Teixeira de Mattos; "Monna Vanna" was translated by Alfred Sutro. Maeterlinck was a Belgian poet, dramatist, essayist and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, whose literary career began with the publication of two volumes of poetry. "Monna Vanna" is set at the end of the fifteenth century, in Pisa in a camp outside the walls. The cast is made up of nobles, soldiers, peasants, men and women of the city, etc. The fascinating dramatic fantasy "Joyzelle", shows, through difficult trials and somber episodes, the triumph of love faithful to its own nature.
