As well as the extensive collection of cartoons, most of which are wonderful full page colour plates that really do justice to David’s art, there are sketches, and watercolour NZ landscapes amongst the cartoons which will make the book enjoyable to re visit often, they are so appealing. The biography is concise and well written, and the grouping of cartoons on the same subjects such as The hired 'help’ and Animals with attitude, present the collection in a more interesting manner than a random or chronological order would. The humour is gentle and kind, and other than a brief introduction to each subject group, the cartoons are left to speak for themselves. I marvelled at his watercolour art, it is a wonderful book, I have bought 3 extra copies as gifts.
