Description

The author's parents, James Eulis Creasy and Nancy Hemington, grew up in two very different cultures, but they were both from hardworking, loving, and humble families, sharing a common religion, with teetotalers as matriarchs. The two families were brought together by the greatest cataclysm in history, World War II, and eventually by the love between one family's oldest child and the other family's youngest. The Creasys from Alabama had nine children, six boys and three girls. The Hemingtons from Hampshire, England had four children, two sons and two daughters. Both of the English brothers and three of the American brothers served in the military. As the odds would have it, one of the five was killed in action. Ironically, the two English sisters faced considerable risk of death or injury by simply being inhabitants of a community located near the German's plum target of Southampton, England. Herein lie their stories. DANNY CREASY, a thorough Alabamian born and raised in "the Shoals" area, is a former banker. He double majored in history and economics earning a B.S. from the University of North Alabama in 1979 and received an M.B.A. from the same institution in 1989. Danny is also a graduate of the United States Air Force Officer Training School in San Antonio, Texas, and the Alabama Banking School in Mobile, Alabama. After 38 years in the banking business, he took retirement to pursue his dream of becoming a writer. After his short story White Flour was published in the Savannah Anthology 2015 (Volume 2), he was imbued to self-publish his work of creative non-fiction Jim & Nancy: Two Paths Merged by War. He is currently writing a novel entitled Slingshot 8. Danny is truly happy these days. A man amongst women - he has a loving and supportive wife of 31 years, two equally talented daughters, a curly-haired "grand girl," and his 15-year old Shiba Inu companion - Nessie. He enjoys target shooting and competing in matches with .22 rifles and pistols and is an avid reader. He is blessed to have such a loving family and good friends. They help him live each day to the fullest and make life a joy.
