Here's the TLDR summary:
- Quality 5/5 (all solid oak, except for the 2× back panels which could be something else?)
- Appearance and how true it is the description 5/5
- Ease of building 3/5 (approx. 2hrs for 2 people; drill for making 12× pilot holes, also recommended)
I've been very happy with this EXTENDABLE unit, yes, the top bit that slides to the bottom bit does not fix to the bottom piece, meaning that the unit is 100% EXTENDABLE! The description is a little vague about this so I was prepared to house a 2.5m unit, but currently we have it set to 2.4m in total length and it fits lovely. (If you have a smaller room, it could probably be reduced down to 1.9m before it may start to look a little weird.)
Why have I only given it 4 stars? A couple of reasons: A. The screw which comes with the door knob is about 5mm too long, which meant that I either had to cut the screw (couldn't really be bothered), or to dig out a washer and spacer to fill the gap (this did the trick). B. The door hinges' had no screw holes pre-drilled, which given that the unit is oak, meant that I had to drill some pilot holes in order to attached the hinges, (bit annoying and a little time consuming). C. The instructions referred to each wooden piece by a letter, but there were no letters stuck to the pieces, (not the end of the world, but made things a bit slower to piece together).
All up, I would totally recommend this unit and if Mighty Ape could fix the bits listed above, then this would definitely be a 5/5 product. Do however be reminded that this comes as a flatpack (arguably the highest quality flatpack I've ever seen nonetheless) and will require someone with a bit of muscle (it weighs 55kg in total), a drill and a couple of different Phillips screwdrivers. Hope this review helps with your decision. :)
