Description

Information Writing teaches children the essential skills required by the school curriculum. They will learn to write to advise, to inform, to explain and to describe. It provides a lively collection of writings, in different forms, for children to read, including formal and informal letters, reports, reviews and biographies to name a few. These will provide vital starting points to give them ideas for their own writing. More than this, the book helps young writers structure and organise their work, to use good grammar, punctuation and more interesting vocabulary. They will also learn to recognise that articles contain facts and opinions, which can be biased to a particular point of view. Author Biography:

Sally Jones is a qualified teacher with over thirty years experience of teaching in the classroom and as a private tutor. She runs a successful private tuition business in Surrey, teaching children from 5-17 years. Sally began writing her own educational material to teach English, as a direct result of tutoring children on a one to one basis. She became aware that there was a gap in the retail market of teaching resources that would cater for the specific needs of her pupils. This need gave birth to her creative writing books, which provide reluctant writers with starting points to get them writing. More than this, she realised there was a need for English activities that stretched more able children, for those with special educational needs or where English is a foreign language. Amanda Jones graduated from a Surrey University in English Language And Linguistics and went on to complete an MA in English and Sociology. Her love of writing began in her teens when she submitted projects to win the title of Young Environmentalist of The Year on three occasions.
