The varnish left a thick white dusting over the figures I noticed that when wetted the coat seemed to go transparent. Tried applying an even more completely mixed coat only to get a more even and complete white dusting over the figure.

This varnish is complete rubbish. I applied it to a model and it just makes it look as if it's been frozen. It just turns the surface cloudy and white like its “frosted” via airbrush and just brushing it on. A quick search online revealed that hundreds of others have the same problem with it. Tried several of the suggested fixes to no avail. Don't waste your money. Maybe it would work over Humbrol paints, but I need something that works with a range of paints. I have since switched to using Winsor and Newton UV varnish and have no problems at all.
