Description

This is a true story of love, personal growth, and finding a home. It takes place in Czechoslovakia and in the United States of America during the Cold War era. A young woman from behind the Iron Curtain country gets a chance of a lifetime to work on assignment in New York where she unexpectedly meets the love of her life. But this primary human feeling turns her life upside down due to the political rivalry of the 1970s and unforeseen emotional and cultural struggle. The story follows her from childhood to adulthood describing life in Czechoslovakia in the background. Firsthand she learns the rigidity of communist doctrine and how one gets treated when a betrayal of allegiance to socialism is discovered. When her life eventually gets back on track, new issues surprisingly arise. She finds out that happiness, even in the most sought after country in the world, does not happen automatically and that human emotions are unpredictable and complicated. Thru self-discovery and sheer resolution, she triumphs over herself and finally realizes where she belongs, where her home is.
