This book looks at the early days of amateur competition for the coveted trophy, through its glory days of paid players and its eventual return to the grass roots level in the 1990s. Author Biography:

Bill Abbott has been involved in the newspaper business for more than twenty years as a reporter, editor and publisher. In addition, he has been active in the sports field on a provincial and national level as a competitor, coach, official and administrator. He served for 27 years as a referee in the Newfoundland Senior Hockey League before his retirement in 1999 and witnessed first hand many of the exciting games played in the league during that time. Bill resides in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland with his wife Fran and his son Daniel.
