Description

The Nikon S2 is, for me, one of the most fascinating cameras of all time. Originally discredited as a Contax copy, the camera shows that Nikon completed the thoughts of the German developers of the Contax. It was the beginning of the end for German cameras. Quick-shift transport levers and a viewfinder that makes the Contax's viewfinder look like a gloomy tunnel in an African country show that the Japanese were by no means just copyists, but people who cared deeply about technical development. The camera is extremely well made. Rich shutter sound. Cleanest film transport. No beeping. The camera is not annoying. It makes itself almost invisible as a tool. It is unobtrusive, discreet, simply wonderful. But you can feel it, sense it and fall in love with it. Today, the Nikon S2 is one of my constant companions. I am more faithful to it than to any woman. Wandering through one of the most boring German gardens with this camera is a joy. With it, simply everything is a joy. This catalog verses an exhibition that was shown on a farm on the island of Föhr on August 29, 2022. The images shown here were publicly visible square meters for exactly one day and were then given away to the visitors of the exhibition. Working for you: Farmer: Ingo Carlsen Photography: Rainer Strzolka Camera: Nikon S2 with Nikkor 1,4/50 Films: Fomapan 400 and Washi F Developer: Rodinal 1:25 Digital processing: Foto-Weckbrodt, Hanover, Germany We would like to point out that this book is not a manual for the Nikon S2. Thanks
