Description

"Education should be an evolving continuum--one should endeavor to learn something every day. Being educated means knowing "who you are" and where you want to go. Being a good teacher means offering a "feel good" experience for both the teacher and pupil, proceeding towards defined goals with a purpose. Knowing who you are is an evolving process. Everyone needs someone to love, something to do, having a passion for whatever you do, and also something to look forward to." - David Staniford Dr David Staniford has been a professor, administrator, college coach, and tennis professional for more than forty years. A native of Sydney, Australia, he began his teaching career in the Australian outback. Coached by the legendary Australian Davis Cup coach, Harry Hopman, David was a former number one player at the University of Oregon, where he earned his masters and doctorate. An outstanding Australian junior tennis player he studied at Sydney Teacher's College, University of New South Wales, Oregon, and the University of London. An expert in movement analysis, he has taught and coached players at every level. He has taught and coached at the University of Oregon, Illinois State University, Brock University in Ontario, Canada, Newberry College and Marquette University. His course, 'A Movement Approach to Sports Skills' has been taught in many countries. He teaches and consults with players, teams and coaches on movement and skills technique, in addition to conducting tennis clinics and camps around the world. Several of his players have played Davis Cup for their countries and have made it to the top thirty junior and world rankings. Presently he is the Tennis Professional at Savannah Lakes Village in McCormick, South Carolina. His books include Natural Movement for Children; Kendall Hunt, and Natural Tennis, second Edition; Stipes, with John Boaz. He has written many professional articles, a monthly newspaper column named 'Good Strokes for Senior Folks', and Frozen in Time, a memoire.
