During the Californian gold rush, Californian Common or ‘Steam’ beer was the beer of choice for the working man, brewed in over 25 breweries in San Francisco alone, its popularity dwindled until in 1965 when only Anchor Brewery was still producing it, and was in financial strife, until Fritz Maytag bought a 51% share of the brewery. Now we bring you the perfect kit for your own brewery to ensure this style never dwindles again!

NOTE: This is a lager that is fermented at 18°C (65°F) because of the cool yeast formula.

Flavour
Toffee and caramel with a light earthy character finished with a firm bitterness to refresh the palate.

Aroma
Pours a light copper with a fluffy white head, aroma is a rounded toffee note with a fantastic herbal hop character.
