Author Biography:

HOLGER NEHRING is a Lecturer in Contemporary European History at the University of Sheffield, UK. He has published widely on the history of social movements and popular protests and is currently involved, together with Florian Schui, in planning a larger research project on the history of taxation. FLORIAN SCHUI is a Lecturer in Modern European History at Royal Holloway, University of London, UK. His research interests include the history of taxation and the history of political and economic ideas.
