Also included are interesting patterns taken from many Cosmati floors, themselves inspired by Greek, Roman and Byzantine designs. Most quilts are rectangular in shape and they serve as a natural and inspiring canvas for designers with a strong sense of geometry and mathematics. Analysis of the designs using clear drawings provides designers and artists with ideas and techniques for their own work.
