This guide traces our concepts of genders at least as far back as the eighteenth century, then maps out the major lines of debate since that time. Author Biography

David Glover is Senior Lecturer in English at the University of Southampton. He is co-editor of the journal New Formations. Cora Kaplan is Professor of English at Queen Mary's, University of London. They have both published widely on cultural theory and various aspects of gender studies.
