Helen Smith Cairnsis Professor Emerita at Queens College,City University of New York. She is affiliated with the CUNYGraduate Programs in Linguistics and in Speech, Language, andHearing Sciences. Her research and scholarship are in the areas ofadult sentence processing and first language acquisition inchildren.
