"Finally a decent new series"

Purchased on Mighty Ape

I had heard nothing but two games being released for FMA. I bought when I saw how cheap it was and needed some thing to fill my anime hole after watching rubbish that was Final Fantasy Unlimited.

This is throughly enjoyable and recommend anybody to pick it up.

Excellent story. Al and Ed are good fun. Hopefully this carrys on for all four seasons. Soundtrack is good too

"Kick Butt Anime"

I'd heard alot of great things about this anime online and from friends, but being a series based on a shounen (boys) manga I was a little hesitant to check it out. I saw it online at GP Store priced ridiculously well (compared to the same pack in the US) and thought “What the heck”…

I'm glad I did. From the opening scenes I was completely hooked. The storyline is so intriguing, the characters are so likeable that I've sat and watched the DVD three times already. There's action, intrigue, and humour. I especially like the full colour booklet insert included with an introduction by the director, profiles of Ed and Al, and pictures of the towns and other characters.

The tin collectors box got many “oohs” and “aahs” at the office, and looks as though it should easily fit the first 5 DVDs in OK. The colour art on the tin is exceptional and it makes a really nice collectors piece!

The soundtrack features the opening and closing theme plus alot of instrumental tracks from the anime and I like the way they have kept the Japanese text in the booklet insert. A very nice touch.

Overall I recommend picking this series up to anyone. Even girls like myself LOL, you will not be disappointed!

"Alchemy Is Great!"

From the beginning of the first episode I was intrigued and by the end of watching the entire volume one, I was hooked.

This anime has sparked my interest into the arts of alchemy and I look forward to the next lesson…

Description

Edward Elric changed the night he trapped his younger brother’s spirit in the unfeeling steel of an ancient suit of armor. That night, Edward and Alphonse exploited the clandestine science of Alchemy to attempt the unthinkable- resurrect their dead mother. They failed, unleashing an alchemic reaction that ripped their bodies apart. Four years later, an expanding evil lurks behind the false face of freedom. With rebellion crushed, the State turns its eye to increasing its grip on the people by seizing a legendary artifact that would ensure complete domination and plunge the land into State controlled darkness. Now a lone State Alchemist combs the country for a single stone that could amplify his Alchemy. If successful he would control a power permitting him to restore the precious things that were lost. But it would also allow the State Military to senselessly obliterate countless more. The Alchemist is soon faced with the harsh truth that the power to create is but a breath away from the power to destroy, and that with each birth, death must follow. To Challenge the Sun - Ep. 01 As children, brothers Ed and Al used the clandestine science of Alchemy to try the unthinkable- resurrect their dead mother. They failed, unleashing an alchemic reaction that ripped their bodies apart. Four years later, Ed and Al are combing the country for a rumored stone that could amplify their alchemy and bring their bodies back to normal. And it appears they may have found it-in a strangely prosperous desert village. Body of the Sanctioned - Ep. 02 What is the meaning of a miracle? Or compassion? Is it right to leave a girl and her village in blissful ignorance, or take away all their comforts for the sake of telling the "truth"? These are the questions Ed and Al must face, as they battle against the false prophet Cornello, who is using the science of alchemy and parading it as acts of God. Mother - Ep. 03 An old book takes Ed and Al down a painful spiral of memories. Childhood-- a time of war for their nation, when every week, news from the front lines could devastate the family next door. But Ed and Al had their mother, a pillar of strength who always made life okay. When she died, they would try anything to bring her back. A Forger's Love - Ep. 04 On their way to Central City, Ed and Al hear of a man named Majhal living nearby - an alchemist who not only knew their father, but wrote to him about creating human life. Ed wants to learn from him, but Majhal has other problems: Rumors of a young woman ghost wandering the outskirts of his town, taking the souls of young girls.
