Description

Tika Newman has done it again! Set in Chicago, in the late 1880's this wonderful historical novel is a perfect blend of fact and fiction. Anne had finally overcome a difficult childhood and a brutal attack by an unknown assailant. She had taken care of her younger brother, just as she promised their dying mother. No matter what the judge ordered, she refuses to be separated from him. They escape to historic Chicago under the cover of darkness in hopes that they would find their father and he would take them in. Chaotic adventures become commonplace to Anne and Billy as they try to survive on their own. Soon Chicago becomes infected with a psychopath of the worst kind, and he was frightening people to death...literally. Murder and mayhem had snuck into Chicago as the nation's first serial killer reared his ugly head. Anne worked hard, running a successful design business, and had it all... but did she really? Where was the love? Anne witnessed first hand, what love did to her mother and vowed to never let a man do that to her. If the heart wants love, the head cannot stop it. Anne can run, but can she hide?
