Description

FireStarter: The Holy Spirit Empowers is about the empowering work of the Holy Spirit. It is not about the fruit of the Spirit or the gifts of the Spirit but the empowering work of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8) in the Old Testament, the New Testament, and our day. It is an engaging account by an academic, Bible-believing Pastor of his journey from being a rigid dispensationalist to a balanced charismatic. One of Phil's mentors summarized this book well when he wrote: "Usually books on the Holy Spirit have good theology and biblical teaching, but render the Third Person of the Trinity impersonal, dull, and dry. They do not draw us into the author's lived experience. Or, they are full of exciting experiences with the Holy Spirit, but they do not help us build a good biblical and theological foundation for understanding and cooperating with the Holy Spirit. This book is a masterpiece of doing both. As you read, you will grow in personal experience as well as biblical understanding!" (Rev. Dr. Zeb Bradford (Brad) Long, Executive Director, Presbyterian Reformed Ministries International)

Author Biography:

After graduating from Wheaton College in 1972 with a BA in History I enrolled in Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, CA, graduating in 1975 with an M.Div. (Master of Divinity). In the early 1990s, I returned to Fuller to work on my D.Min. (Doctorate of Ministry). Following a delightful journey - really, I loved it! - I graduated in 1997. Hence, my formal title is Rev. Dr. Philip J. Noordmans. I have served as a teaching pastor in a variety of settings in CA and the Midwest. In my spare time I tend a small organic garden.
