Author Biography:

Megan Faure (B.Sc OT, OTR), an occupational therapist who has worked in pediatrics in the USA and South Africa, lectures internationally to both professionals and parents on baby care issues, including how to sooth infants, manage sleep habits and feeding problems. A journalist and author in the field of child psychology, parenting and child development, Meg helps parents to nurture their baby's emotional world in all her areas of work: - She co-authored Baby Sense, Sleep Sense, Feeding Sense, Pregnancy Sense and Weaning Sense - Meg developed an application called Baby Sense Day-by-Day. She founded Baby Sense, one of South Africa's most recognizable baby brands, in 2004 and was involved in developing and designing its products until selling the company in 2014. - In 2016 she launched a toddler playgroup solution called Play Sense. Megan treats babies and toddlers with sleep problems and sensory processing difficulties at her practice in Cape Town. She is married with three children. Katherine Megaw (B.Sc Diet (Hons), Dip Paed diet) graduated as a clinical dietician from the University of Natal. She specialized in paediatric dietetics through the Johns Hopkins Institute, completed a first level certificate in breastfeeding consultancy through the Breastfeeding Association of South Africa and a diploma course in exercise science, specializing in pregnant women and children. Over the past 17 years she has worked in private practice with parents and children with a variety of feeding difficulties, as well as helping new moms navigate through the wealth of information available on baby feeding. Kath is a regular speaker at events on child and infant nutrition. She has written several books and co-authored Weaning Sense with Meg Faure. She has lectured to post graduate students on feeding babies with special needs and written articles for local and international magazines and journals. Katherine has three children and lives in the beautiful city of Cape Town. Dr Simon Strachan (MBChB FCPaed) graduated from The University of Cape Town in 1987 and spent the next three years working at the Ernest Oppenheimer Hospital in Welkom. He started Paediatrics at the University of the Witwatersrand in 1991, graduating as a Fellow of the College of Paediatricians of South Africa in 1995. Simon has been in private paediatric practice since 1996 and has interests in vaccinology, pulmonology, allergies, epilepsy and the ketogenic diet and ADHD. He has developed a passion for teaching and delivers lectures to parents, general practitioners and paediatricians. He is a regular contributor to magazines and attends many local and international medical congresses. Simon lives in Johannesburg with his many children and is a very proud grandfather.
