God's requirement of faithfulness underpins humanity's relationship to God right from the very start. Faithfulness - loyalty, fidelity, steadfast trust and obedience - is required of the Jews under the Covenant at Sinai, and of Christians under the Covenant of blood. Scripture uses marriage metaphors to illustrate faithfulness - God is Israel's 'Husband' - jealously watching over her, protecting her and providing for her, and his Messiah constitutes the 'Bridegroom' in relation to the Assembly of His people - his 'Bride' - made up of both Jews and Gentiles. In these metaphors we also see the waywardness of God's people and their leaders - described as adultery, sexual 'liberation', 'unnatural' alliances and harlotry - culminating in the 'Great harlot of Babylon'. But what happens when Jews and Christians are 'unfaithful'?This book explores the principles of faithfulness and the distinctive spiritual principles that underpin Christian marriage and sexuality - principles that are at odds with many of the trends in modern Western society. It also explores the nature of the 'Whore of Babylon' and the events that are prophesied to unfold at the end of the present gospel age.
