Description

Expo 86 is the 3rd album from Montreal, Quebec, Canada 5-piece Wolf Parade, on famed Sub Pop Records.

Wolf Parade formed in 2003, when Spencer Krug (Frog Eyes, Sunset Rubdown) & Dan Boeckner (Atlas Strategic, Handsome Furs) met. Arlen Thompson (drums) & Hadji Bakara (keys) were soon added. They released their critically acclaimed debut album Apologies To The Queen Mary in 2005. Shortly afterwards Dante DeCaro (Hot Hot Heat) was added to the lineup. Their 2nd album, At Mount Zoomer, followed in 2008.

Wolf Parade’s previous albums have played off the differences in style & approach between the two frontmen - Krug & Boeckner - but Expo 86 is the first to genuinely feel like it is a true “band” album, It is also a more open album, with Wolf Parade harnessing a darker, more nervy energy than ever before.

Expo 86 takes its name from the World Fair held in Vancouver - which all 5 of the band attended when they were kids!

Reviews

“Fuck yeah!” Pretty-Much-Amazing.com

Expo 86 is simply the sound of a majestic & well-oiled indie machine.” Spin

“Wolf Parade might just be Canada’s answer to the Beatles… a more fitting comparison might be a strange but delicious rock n’ roll fantasy in which a young & arty Bowie joins forces with a young & hungry Springsteen.” Popdose.com

“Now that Wolf Parade has one more super-cool album in the can, I can go back to living in constant, irrational fear that this band is going to break up.” Tinymixtapes.com

“It’s Wolf Parade’s “band” record.” Stereogum
