In the course of negotiations taking place in the Council of the EU and concerning the research and training of the European Atomic Energy Community (2014 - 2018), part of Horizon 2020 programme, the author carried out in-depth research and analysis of the European Union nuclear energy policy which resulted in this book. The book deals with issues such as: - safety, economics and environmental impact of nuclear energy; - supply of uranium; - public opinion; - EU nuclear legislation and position towards nuclear safety, radioactive waste management and decommissioning of nuclear reactors; - application of nuclear safety law by the Member States; - nuclear research; - prospects of nuclear energy in the EU.
