"Really great even for non-Austen-heads!"

My whole family loved this movie! Which is wild because apart from my mum most of us aren't usually into period dramas. It was actually really funny, and it was visually just delightful. The colours were amaaaazing, it was just joyous to look at. I think if you're not keen on period dramas that are a bit stodgy and grey and super serious you might find this a pleasantly lighthearted surprise :)

"Not quite a flop"

Thought this movie didn’t live up to the hype touting it as a great comedy, boring in parts and over the top in others.

Description

Emma

Jane Austen's beloved comedy about finding your equal and earning your happy ending, is reimagined in this delicious new film adaptation of EMMA. Handsome, clever, and rich, Emma Woodhouse is a restless queen bee without rivals in her sleepy little town.

In this glittering satire of social class and the pain of growing up, Emma must adventure through misguided matches and romantic missteps to find the love that has been there all along.

Critic Reviews:

  • " The universal acknowledgement continues: Jane Austen knew how to write a fun movie. " – Robin Holabird
  • " Even if you don't find all the odd little bits of beauty that lie within Emma, this film will do little to distress or vex you. " – Mark Meszoros
  • " Autumn de Wilde, Anya Taylor-Joy and everyone else involved with the production absolutely do right by Jane Austen, and it's deserving of a large audience for doing so. " – Eric Eisenberg
