Description

A great picture story book with an environmental message, developed in conversation with Greenpeace UK. When one little boy discovers a message from Father Christmas asking for help to save his home from the oil drillers, he hitches a lift from a kind old sailor and together with children from around the world, they set sail to confront the oil men. Elliot desperately wants to save the Arctic and stop Christmas being cancelled, but will the oil drillers back down and what is the old sailor' s big surprise... ?

Author Biography

Catherine Barr worked at Greenpeace International for seven years as a wildlife and forestry campaigner and has a long-running interest in environmental issues. While working as an editor at the Natural History Museum, she researched and wrote two major summer exhibitions: Dinosaurs of the Gobi Desert and Myths and Monsters. Her previous books for Frances Lincoln are The Story of Inventions and The Story of Life. She lives on a hill near Hay-on-Wye in Herefordshire with her partner and two daughters. FRANCESCA CHESSA graduated in Architecture but, after some years of working as an architect, realised she would rather paint animals and the things that surrounded her. After doing a course in Illustration, she has illustrated more than 40 children's books working with publishers in various parts of the world including Italy, England, the US, France, Canada, Spain and Japan. In 2010 Love a Duck by Alan James Brown, published by Gullane (UK), was a finalist at the People's Book Prize. In 2012, Library Lily, written by Gillian Shields and published by Gullane (UK) , won the Patterson Prize for Books for Young People, Pre K-3. Francesca lives in Turin, Italy.
