Author Biography:

Dr. S. Surendran., M.A., M.Phil., MSW., Ph.D., is presently is the Associate Professor and Head of the department of Sociology in South Travancore Hindu College, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari District. He has over fifteen years of teaching and research experience. He was awarded Ph.D by Manonmaniam Sundaranar University for his thesis on Gerontology during 2008. His field of interest is on Medical Sociology, Social Problems and Social Gerontology of Tamilnadu. Some of his papers were published in National journals of Sociology. He is a life member of Indian Sociological Society (New Delhi). He has good experience in Irrigation management, counseling and disaster management programs for the past fifteen years. He has been honoured with various awards by the Rotary International for commendable contribution in Pulse Polio Immunization, as the outstanding President and for his excellent service in the various organizations and associations. He has been the Chief Coordinator of the institution for the preparation of the District Human Development report of Kanyakumari district by the State Planning Commission, Chennai for the year 2013.
