Description

What should be the role of government in society? How should it design its programmes? How should tax systems be designed to promote both efficiency and fairness? Nobel Laureate Joseph Stiglitz and new co-author Jay Rosengard bring an unparalleled level of expertise to address these key issues of public-sector economics. No other text is as modern, as accessible, or incorporates as much first-hand policy-advising experience by its authors as Stiglitz/Rosengard.

Author Biography:

Joseph E. Stiglitz is a Nobel Prize-winning economist and the best-selling author of The Price of Inequality, Freefall, and Globalization and Its Discontents. He is a columnist for the New York Times and Project Syndicate and has written for Vanity Fair, Politico, The Atlantic, and Harper's. He teaches at Columbia University and lives in New York City. Jay Rosengard is Lecturer in Public Policy at John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
