The discovery and evolution of oranometallic cluster chemistry is a major event in the development of inorganic chemistry. The key feature linking all these complexes in metal-metal bonding is the presence of pi-donor ligands.

Author Biography:

Malcolm Harold Chisholm, FRS FRSE was a Scottish inorganic chemist who was a Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and Distinguished University Professor of Mathematical and Physical Sciences at Ohio State University who contributed to the synthesis and structural chemistry of transition metal complexes.
