Author Biography:

Dr. Marilou Ryder, was born in Syracuse, New York (Go Orange!) and now lives in Huntington Beach, California (Surf's Up). She is dedicated to studying and researching women in leadership, women in aging, and executive career planning. Dr. Ryder was named Top Ten Business Professional Women of the Year for her involvement in local community affairs and awarded the California Administrator of the Year Award and the Johns Hopkins Outstanding Administrator for her achievements in school leadership. A former school superintendent, Dr. Ryder now serves as Professor in the Doctoral program of Organizational Leadership for Brandman University, part of the Chapman University system. She also owns a consulting business, Ryder and Associates that specializes in delivering in large scale presentations and workshops across the country. As a advocate for women in leadership, she has many keynote speeches on the subject of women advancing into top positions of leadership in addition to lively and humorous keynotes on Women and Aging. She is excited to introduce a new book for readers: DON'T FORGET YOUR SWEATER, GIRL: Sister to Sister Secrets for Aging with Purpose and Humor. Jessica Thompson is a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, was born in Syracuse, NY, resided near Boston for most of her adult life, and now lives in Naples, Florida. Jessica worked for twelve years as a buyer and merchandise manager for two major department stores in Chicago and Boston, and later transitioned to a career in the financial services industry working for a large Boston bank as a branch manager and a mortgage servicing officer. While raising her two daughters, she was able to develop her creative passions for fashion design and home decorating. When Jessica's daughters entered college, she fulfilled another life-long love, that of sports. She coached field hockey and lacrosse for young girls in two public school districts and refereed field hockey. Jessica is an avid golfer with a handicap of 15 in her sixties! She is proud she has passed her golf abilities down to her daughters, who are better than her. As an author, Jessica is excited to share her new book, Don't Forger Your Sweater Girl: Sister to Sister Secrets for Aging with Purpose and Humor, which she co-authored with her sister, Dr. Marilou Ryder.
