Donne and the Resources of Kind is the first book about Donne's writings to focus on their relations to genre. It considers what Donne took from the resources of kind and how he transformed the resources on which he drew. Most of the chapters discuss Donne's secular and religious verse but there is also discussion of Donne's religious prose.

Author Biography:

A. D. Cousins is Professor in English and Chair of Department at Macquarie University, New South Wales. He is a Member of the Australian Academy of the Humanities anda Member of the Order of Australia. He has published many books and articles, including Shakespeare's Sonnets and Narrative Poems (1999 and 2000). Forthcoming books include Ben Johnson and the Politics of Genre and The Cambridge Companion to the Sonnet. Damian Grace is an Associate Professor in the School of History and Philosophy at UNSW in Sydney. His specializations are applied and professional ethics and Renaissance political theory. His recent research includes articles on apologizing on behalf of others, Nazi medicine, the poetry of John Donne, and business ethics. His current research includes the philosophy of friendship.
